The event of Banda Night was hosted on February 20th, and it marked the third time that Anaheim High School has done it. 

This year’s Banda Night included music played by Banda Arrazadora, tacos sold by Tacos Los Cholos, a raspados vendor with other goodies, a photo backdrop with a frame, and much more. 

For those who don’t know, Banda Night is a night made for Anaheim High School students to dance with a live banda and just embrace our Hispanic culture. 

Recently, other schools in the AUHSD have decided to host their own Banda Night such as Katella High School, and Magnolia High School. Magnolia High School collabed with Savanna High School for a joint Banda Night. 

Banda Night is more than just a dance. It is a celebration of culture, music, and community. Many students look forward to this event because it gives them a chance to dress up, bring their friends, and feel proud of their roots. The sound of the live banda fills the space with energy and emotion. The music was heard all the way to the surrounding houses, making them want to dance too. 

Students who may not always attend school events show up for this one because it feels personal and meaningful to them. 

After interviewing two students, someone who went to Banda Night, and someone who couldn’t go, this is what they shared. After asking Claire Denton (11), first time attendant of Banda Night, she expressed how she liked Banda Night and her favorite aspect about it was how everyone was getting along and dancing all together, sharing a community. If given the opportunity, she would go to Banda Night once again and relive the memories she had at the first one. 

I then interviewed Paulina Alcala (12). She was unable to attend this year’s Banda Night due to another personal obligation, but if she were given the opportunity, she would go. She did not face much FOMO (fear of missing out), but she mentioned the event looking fun. 

What makes Banda Night special is how it brings everyone together. Students from different grade levels and friend groups all share the same space, united by the music. It also allows students who may not always feel represented see their culture celebrated in a positive way at school. Seeing other schools in the AUHSD host their own Banda Night shows how impactful this event has become and how impactful it will continue to be in the future. 

Overall, Banda Night continues to grow each year. As Anaheim High hosts it for the third time, it proves that traditions like these matter. Events like Banda Night helps keep culture alive while also creating memories that students will carry with them long after high school. 

Maybe one day, there will be a district-wide Banda Night, showing the unity of our district and how much we value each other’s cultures. 

El evento de Noche de Banda tomó lugar el 20 de febrero y marcó la tercera vez que la Preparatoria Anaheim lo ha organizado. 

La Noche de Banda de este año incluyó música tocada por banda Arrazadora, tacos vendidos por Tacos Los Cholos, un vendedor de raspados con otros bocadillos, un fondo para fotos y mucho más. 

Para quienes no lo saben, la Noche de Banda es una noche creada para que los estudiantes de la Preparatoria Anaheim bailen con una banda en vivo y celebrar nuestra cultura hispana. 

Recientemente, otras escuelas del distrito AUHSD también han decidido organizar su propia Noche de Banda, unas preparatorias son Katella y Magnolia. Magnolia colaboró con Savanna para una Noche de Banda conjunta. 

La Noche de Banda es más que solo un baile. Es una celebración de la cultura, la música y la comunidad. Muchos estudiantes esperan con entusiasmo este evento porque les da la oportunidad de arreglarse, invitar a sus amigos y sentirse orgullosos de sus raíces. El sonido de la banda en vivo llena el espacio de energía y emoción. La música se escuchaba hasta en las casas cercanas, haciendo que incluso ellos bailen también.

Estudiantes que normalmente no asisten a eventos escolares sí asisten a este porque se siente personal y significativo para ellos. 

Después de entrevistar a dos estudiantes, una que asistió a la Noche de Banda y otra que no pudo ir, esto fue lo que compartieron. Al preguntarlre a Claire Denton (11), quien asistió por primera vez a la Noche de Banda, expresó que le gusto mucho el evento y que su aspecto favorito fue ver cómo todos se llevaban bien y bailaban juntos, compartiendo un sentido de comunidad. Si tuviera la oportunidad, asistiría nuevamente para revivir los recuerdos que tuvo en la primera vez. 

Luego entrevisté a Paulina Alcala (12). Ella no pudo asistir a la Noche de Banda de este año y comentó que no pudo ir debido a otra obligación personal, pero que si tuviera la oportunidad, si asistiría. No sintió mucho FOMO (fear of missing out por sus siglos en inglés), pero mencionó que el evento parecía muy divertido. 

Lo que hace especial la Noche de Banda es cómo reúne a todos. Estudiantes de diferentes grados y grupos de amigos comparten el mismo espacio, unidos por la música. También permite a estudiantes que tal vez no siempre se sienten representados vean su cultura celebrada de manera positiva en la escuela. Ver que otras escuelas del distrito AUHSD organizan su propia Noche de Banda demuestra lo impactante que se ha vuelto este evento y cómo seguirá creciendo en el futuro. 

En general, la Noche de Banda continúa creciendo cada año. Al organizarla por tercera vez, la preparatoria Anaheim demuestra que tradiciones como esta son importantes. Eventos como la Noche de banda ayudan a mantener viva la cultura mientras crean recuerdos que los estudiantes llevan consigo mucho después de la preparatoria. 

Tal vez algún día, habrá una Noche de Banda en todo el distrito, mostrando la unidad de nuestro distrito y cuanto valoramos las culturas de cada uno.
