On Friday, March 3rd 2026, in honor of Women’s History Month, Anaheim High School held its Annual Women’s March during sixth period. To celebrate and honor the often underappreciated achievements of women and recognize the fight for suffrage, the march was led by students who came together to celebrate women’s outstanding contributions to history, culture, and society. All students were able to take their sixth period off to participate in this powerful movement. We will hear from a student who had the opportunity to participate in it in the march and hear what her experience was like.

Amy Rodriguez is a student that was able to participate in the march as part of the track team. She starts by sharing that her experience in the march was “really fun and exciting.” Amy is not only a part of the Track team but also a part of the Cross country team. She explained that her team and her had to change first because of media pictures that they were going to have after the march. When she returned, she saw many students getting their faces painted and wearing purple accessories like sunglasses and pom poms to represent the movement. Along with that she mentions that everyone had been given signs to decorate before the march began. After lining up at the front of the school, students were able to walk around campus chanting all kinds of encouraging messages for women. Some students, including ASB members and athletes, started up school chants to build even more energy and school spirit.
She says that many students and her agree that the experience was very “empowering,” as she was able to walk along with different programs and students who had wanted to support and represent women. She also talked about how the march allowed for students to express their support for gender equality which is something that she very much values. Many shared that being able to participate in the march made them feel like they were part of something bigger and meaningful that was within their school community. Additionally, students were able to emphasize the importance of educating others about women’s history and promoting both respect and equality on campus.

In conclusion, the Women’s March at Anaheim High School was a powerful experience that was able to bring many student communities together. It was not only to celebrate the achievements of women but to also inspire students to continue supporting one another with equality and respect. It’s definitely seen how events like these can help raise awareness and strengthen the voices of future generations.
