Disneyland is a big part of the Anaheim community. Since opening in 1955, it has brought millions of visitors from all over the world. For the past 70 years, Disneyland has brought people joy all throughout the world. Although the first park was established here in Anaheim, it eventually expanded to different parts of the world. Because of this, Disneyland has helped Anaheim grow into a popular tourist city. Many people in our community depend on the park in different ways. For many Disneyland is their happy place. Disneyland can be a place of comfort for so many people. Afterall, Disneyland is known as the happiest place on earth.
While Disneyland does provide many benefits for Anaheim’s economy, it is important to recognize the people that it negatively impacts. Many Disneyland workers, who barely earn a stable income, have been fighting for better pay and benefits for years. Disneyland also causes lots of noise pollution in Anaheim and impacts the traffic for residents who live near the park.
However, Disneyland has also provided Anaheim High School students with many resources. Just last fall, Disneyland gave our Chamber Singers $50,000 for their performance at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Recently, they have also gifted our cross-country/track students the opportunity of free Disneyland tickets to show their support. This shows how Disneyland is not just a place that’s in our city that we look past every day. They also help the communities around them. We interviewed US History teacher Mrs. Gamboa and student Brianna Rayos about their experiences at Disneyland.
We interviewed teacher Mrs. Gamboa to ask about her experience growing up going to Disneyland. The first question we asked was: What is your earliest memory of Disneyland that made you love it so much?
She responded with: “It’s pictures, because I don’t honestly remember, but I remember it through pictures, and it’s just going with my family, and just being happy, being together. It was a lot different from what it is today, but I just remember being happy when my family was together…”
We also interviewed a student, Brianna Rayos, and asked her about her experience at Disneyland. We asked her: What makes Disneyland a special place for you?
She replied: “Well, Disneyland became a special place for me because it was a way my family was able to bond over the rides, along with trying the Disney churros for the first time. It has become a yearly tradition to go to Disneyland on my spring break ever since my brother started working there.”
Mrs. Gamboa’s and Brianna’s experiences are amazing and show the impact that Disneyland has on people throughout their lives. Disneyland is home to an amazing environment where people can thrive and be themselves. The memories we make at Disneyland will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
Disneyland, the happiest place on earth, makes people in our community happy. Anaheim is lucky to have Disneyland as a part of its city. For many, Disney is bringing back happy memories that we have cherished for years. Going to Disney is memorable every time.
Disneyland es una parte muy importante de la comunidad de Anaheim. Desde que abrió en 1955, ha recibido a millones de visitas de todo el mundo. Por casi 70 años, Disneyland ha traído alegría a personas de todas partes. Aunque el primer parque se abrió aquí en Anaheim, con el tiempo se expandió a diferentes partes del mundo. Gracias a esto, Disneyland ha ayudado a que Anaheim crezca como una ciudad turística muy popular. Muchas personas en nuestra comunidad dependen del parque de diferentes maneras. Para muchos, Disneyland es su lugar feliz y un lugar de comodidad. Después de todo, Disneyland es conocido como “el lugar más feliz del mundo.”
Aunque Disneyland trae muchos beneficios a la economía de Anaheim, también es importante reconocer los problemas que causa. Muchos trabajadores de Disneyland ganan apenas más que el salario mínimo y han estado luchando por mejores sueldos y beneficios por años. Disneyland también causa mucha contaminación de ruido y tráfico, especialmente para las personas que viven cerca del parque.
Sin embargo, Disneyland también ha apoyado a la comunidad de Anaheim de muchas maneras positivas. El otoño pasado, Disneyland donó 50,000 dólares al coro Chamber Singers de Anaheim High School para que pudieran presentarse en el Carnegie Hall en Nueva York. Recientemente, también les regaló boletos gratis a Disneyland a los estudiantes de cross-country y atletismo para mostrarles su apoyo. Esto demuestra que Disneyland no es solo un parque de diversiones, sino que también ayuda a la comunidad que lo rodea.
Para entender mejor el impacto de Disneyland, entrevistamos a la maestra de Historia de Estados Unidos, la señora Gamboa, y a la estudiante Brianna Rayos sobre sus experiencias.
Le preguntamos a la señora Gamboa sobre su primer recuerdo de Disneyland y qué fue lo que la hizo amarlo tanto. Ella respondió:
“Son fotos, porque la verdad no lo recuerdo bien, pero lo recuerdo a través de las fotos. Recuerdo ir con mi familia y estar felices juntos. Era muy diferente a como es hoy, pero recuerdo que era feliz cuando mi familia estaba junta.”
También entrevistamos a la estudiante Brianna Rayos y le preguntamos por qué Disneyland es un lugar especial para ella. Ella dijo:
“Disneyland se volvió un lugar especial para mí porque era una forma en la que mi familia podía convivir, subiéndose a los juegos y probando los churros de Disney por primera vez. Se ha vuelto una tradición ir a Disneyland cada spring break desde que mi hermano empezó a trabajar ahí.”
