Every year the city of Anaheim brings the community together and celebrates the start of the holiday season with its annual tree lighting ceremony. It is a beautiful sight that wins the heart of the city. It involves a nice evening filled with music, family, students and residents. They all gather and enjoy the festivities that are offered such as small businesses that have their stalls set up and ready to sell their items.
For this year’s celebration, some mentions of the people that attended were the choirs from the following schools: Western, Magnolia, Anaheim, Sycamore, and Brookhurst. One of the AUHSD board members popped up as well as the mayor and they had a guest singer. As people started to arrive the area filled up and vendors set up their area as people walked around and decided what they wanted to do while admiring all the bright colorful twinkling lights that make you feel the holiday spirit. Overall it was a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. The event also included activities for families such as places to take photos and arts and crafts and there also might be a chance for the kids to meet a holiday character which gave them the chance to experience the magic of the season. As the evening became colder and darker everyone gathered around the main tree for the highlight of the night everyone pulled out their phone and started recording as they waited for the lights to turn on. As they turned on everyone cheered and the night was filled with spirit and laughter.
