READY FOR SOME EXCITING TENSE GAMES COMING UP? WELL IT IS TIME!! The AHS Girls JV & Varsity Soccer Team has begun. On Nov. 18, 2025 Girls JV & Varsity Soccer Team had their first game vs Valencia High School. 

JV played at 3:30pm and Varsity at 5:30pm. This amazing game took place on our beautiful new turf. These girls work hard every day in the field to get better each day and to prepare for their next match. 

We all know that soccer is one of the hardest sports but that doesn’t stop these girls from trying. They put in all their hard work, discipline, and positive mindset to have a fun and exciting game. After each match they get in a circle and talk about how they can get better next time.

On the other hand, huge thanks to JV’s coach Saul & Varsity’s coach Mrs. Baca & Mr. Lopez for their hard work they put in everyday in their practices to prepare their girls for the games. We all know that last year the Girl’s Varsity Team didn’t have the best season but we have faith that this year they can do better and for sure go to CIF. 

Also we hope that this year they can win as many victories as they can. But we give thanks to our Junior mid field player Gema J. Briseno Veloz & her teammates, they were able to get some wins last year. Thank you girls. 

During the tense November 18th game, full of screams, we saw all our JV girls running back and forth to try to take the ball away from the other team while trying to make a goal. At the same time we saw our goalie Mya doing a good job blocking all the goals. Good job Mya. But when the game was over sadly our JV girls tied their first game 0-0 against Valencia. LET”S GO COLONISTS YOU GUYS GOT THIS!! 

Besides that I got the chance to interview Gema J. Briseno Veloz, Junior here at AHS and one of our JV girls, about her first match against Valencia, and this is what she said:  

1. How did you prepare before your match? 

“By training every day & training my mentality.” 

2. How did you feel playing again? 

“I felt a little nervous and happy.”

3. How do you feel about tying your first match? What can your team and you do better next time?

“I feel like we could’ve done better but I’m satisfied. Next time my team and I can communicate better & start to get comfortable with each other.” 

4. What school would you like to go against some day?

“Canyon or Pacifica.” 

¿LISTOS PARA LOS EMOCIONANTES PARTIDOS QUE SE AVENTURAN? ¡PUES HA LLEGADO EL MOMENTO! Los equipos de fútbol femenino JV y Varsity de AHS han comenzado su temporada. El 18 de noviembre de 2025, jugaron su primer partido contra Valencia High School.

El equipo juvenil jugó a las 3:30p.m. y el equipo titular a las 5:30p.m. Este emocionante partido se llevó a cabo en nuestro nuevo y hermoso campo de césped sintético. Estas chicas se esfuerzan mucho cada día en la cancha para mejorar y prepararse para su próximo encuentro. 

Todos sabemos que el fútbol es uno de los deportes más difíciles, pero eso no impide que estas chicas lo intenten. Ponen todo su empeño, disciplina y actitud positiva para disfrutar de un partido divertido y emocionante. Después de cada partido, se reúnen en círculo y hablan sobre cómo pueden mejorar la próxima vez.

Por otro lado, muchísimas gracias al entrenador del equipo juvenil, Saul, y a la entrenadora del equipo universitario, la Sra. Baca y el Sr. López, por el gran esfuerzo que dedican cada día en los entrenamientos para preparar a sus chicas para los partidos. Sabemos que el año pasado el equipo Varsity femenino no tuvo la mejor temporada, pero confiamos en que este año lo harán mejor y, sin duda, llegarán al CIF.

Al igual esperamos que este año consigan la mayor cantidad de victorias posible. Agradecemos a nuestra jugadora de mediocampo juvenil, Gema J. Briseno Veloz, y a sus compañeras, quienes lograron algunas victorias el año pasado. ¡Gracias, chicas!

Durante el partido del 18 de noviembre, lleno de gritos y tensión, vimos a todas nuestras chicas del equipo juvenil corriendo de un lado a otro para intentar quitarle el balón al otro equipo mientras intentaban marcar un gol.

Mientras tanto, vemos a nuestra portera Mya haciendo un gran trabajo bloqueando todos los goles. ¡Bien hecho, Mya! Pero al final del partido, lamentablemente nuestras chicas del equipo juvenil empataron su primer partido 0-0 contra Valencia. ¡¡VAMOS COLONISTAS, USTEDES PUEDEN CON ESTE!!

Además, tuve la oportunidad de entrevistar a Gema J. Briseno Veloz, Junior aquí en AHS y una de nuestras chicas JV, sobre su primer partido contra Valencia, y esto fue lo que dijo:

1. ¿Cómo te preparaste antes del partido?

“Entrenando cada día y entrenando mi mentalidad.”

2. ¿Qué sentiste al volver a jugar?

“Me sentí un poco nerviosa y feliz.”

3. ¿Cómo te sentiste al perder tu primer partido? ¿Qué pueden mejorar tu equipo y tú la próxima vez?

“Creo que podríamos haberlo hecho mejor, pero estoy satisfecho. La próxima vez, mi equipo y yo podremos comunicarnos mejor y sentirnos más cómodos entre nosotros.” 

4. ¿Con qué escuela te gustaría jugar algún día?

“Canyon or Pacifica.

Next up it was Varsity’s time to play at 5:30pm. I didn’t get the chance to watch it, but I wished them good luck. Great news! Our Varsity girls beat Valencia 3-1. Keep it up with the great work girls. !!ONCE A COLONIST, ALWAYS A COLONIST!! On Nov, 21, 2025 Girls Varsity had another game at 3:30pm against Calvary Chapel and happily they won again. GREAT JOB GIRLS, KEEP IT UP!!

Besides that I got the chance to interview Liz Valdovinos, Junior here at AHS and one of our Varsity girls, about her first soccer match and this is what she said: 

1. How does it feel to be in the Girls Varsity Soccer Team? “It feels very satisfying and overall a proud experience.”

2. How was the game against Valencia? “It was a very good game and definitely it wasn’t as bad as our 1st game because we worked together as a team.”

3. How did you feel winning your 1st match on Tuesday, Nov 18, 2025? “It felt exciting because it makes us think about the future games and our future season coming up.”

4. How will your team and you prepare for your 2nd game against Calvary Chapel? “Prepare by thinking about our mistakes we made last year and resting our bodies.”  

A continuación, llegó el turno del equipo universitario a las 5:30 p. m. No tuve la oportunidad de verlo, pero les deseé mucha suerte. ¡Qué buena noticia! Nuestras chicas del equipo universitario vencieron a Valencia 3-1. ¡Sigan así, chicas! ¡UNA VEZ COLONISTA, SIEMPRE COLONISTA! El 21 de noviembre de 2025, el equipo femenino del equipo universitario jugó otro partido a las 3:30 p. m. contra Calvary Chapel y, por suerte, volvieron a ganar. ¡¡¡BUEN TRABAJO, CHICAS, SIGAN ASÍ!!!

Además, tuve la oportunidad de entrevistar a Liz Valdovinos, estudiante de penúltimo año aquí en AHS y una de nuestras chicas del equipo Varsity, sobre su primer partido de fútbol, ​​y esto fue lo que dijo:

1. ¿Qué se siente al estar en el equipo femenino de fútbol universitario? “Es una experiencia muy satisfactoria y, en general, de la que me siento orgullosa.”

2. ¿Cómo estuvo el partido contra Valencia? “Fue un partido muy bueno y definitivamente no tan malo como el primero porque trabajamos juntos como equipo.”

3. ¿Cómo te sentiste al ganar tu primer partido el martes 18 de noviembre de 2025? “Fue emocionante porque nos hace pensar en los próximos partidos y en nuestra próxima temporada.”

4. ¿Cómo se prepararon usted y su equipo para su segundo partido contra Calvary Chapel? “Nos preparamos pensando en los errores del año pasado y descansando nuestros cuerpos.”
