Meet the new choir director of Anaheim High School, Antone Rodich!

He attended Corona High School in Riverside County during his high school education. He notes that he did not have many friends but was heavily involved in his high school’s choir and band programs his junior and senior years. Making it into the top choir changed his life since he’s now a choir director giving him a newfound passion.

After high school, he attended Cal State Fullerton, furthering his education and passion for music. When asked if he struggled or questioned his major, he shared, he did. At first, wanting to be an architect or an engineer, but choir and his passion for music changed his career choices.

Antone Rodich, AHS Choir Director

“When I made it into the choir, all I could think of was just being involved in choir.”

Speaking about his childhood, Mr. Rodich shares that he was a “preemie” baby of three months, which led to learning disabilities throughout his youth. He remembers being teased a lot in elementary school and junior high. This lowered his self-esteem. He overcame his obstacles of teasing by being involved in choir and dedicating his time and focus to his school’s band and choir programs, in which he excelled.

“I think the one thing that helped me overcome that was being involved in music because it was something I was good at and something I can be proud of.”

Before becoming the Anaheim choir director, Mr. Rodich was at his last high school for six years. At his previous school, things were well, but the pandemic hit their choir program. This led to reducing his music classes and teaching other subjects, bringing Mr. Rodich to his new position at AHS as our choir director.
