With the 2025-2026 school year coming to a close, everyone is getting all dressed up for the end of the year banquets! Today, we will be highlighting Puente, who recently had their banquet on Wednesday, May 6th. 

After all the fieldtrips, fundraisers, and fun times, it was time to start planning. The Puente cabinet, composed of 27 students and their advisor, Mrs. Cuellar all came together to plan the event. Between deciding the venue, choosing the theme, and creating decorations, it took the whole team to set it up! The planning process was very extensive. Patrick Medrano, one of this year’s presidents, told us that although the event was set for May, planning took place starting in December! Over the span of a couple months, the students carefully designed a banquet they could be proud of, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting. 

The day of the banquet went perfectly! The cabinet showed up early to set everything up and by the time the doors opened, the guests flooded in the hall to see a beautiful display of leadership! This year’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, Samantha Martinez, was happy to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves, saying they had a lot of “good reviews.” While the guests finished eating, a few selected cabinet members were designated as speakers to acknowledge the events of the night. The guests were acknowledged and thanked for attending and the current cabinet was celebrated for their hard work all year long.

Then it was time for the awards! Both Mrs. Allen and Mrs. King stood on stage and with the help of Mr. Calderon, celebrated the top five students with the highest GPAs per grade level. These students were recognized for their determination to pursue greater knowledge and outstanding achievements throughout the school year.

Once the top five seniors were recognized, all Puentistas from the class of 2026 were invited on stage to receive their stole. It was a heart-warming moment, where friends and family cheered for the almost graduated students. The last event of the night was to reveal the new cabinet for the upcoming school year. To uphold the program, Puente has many specific positions to ensure that they are accurately representing and helping their Puentistas. Congratulations to all the Puentistas that have found themselves in the new cabinet, we’re sure that they will do an amazing job next year! A special congratulations to the new Co-Presidents, Samantha Martinez and Melanie Michele Valverde! These two have proven their dedication to the program. We’re sure that they will lead the program well!

After all was celebrated, families went to take pictures and go home, while the cabinet stayed behind to clean up. Once all was said and done, everyone was free to go home, kick back, and relax. Another successful year has been completed, and Patrick Medrano leaves a message for the new cabinet, a reminder of Puente’s mission:

“I have full faith in the new cabinet. I believe that we made the right decision in carefully selecting and placing people into their positions where they can contribute the most. Everyone in this new cabinet is eager to take initiative and passionate about serving their community, which is a key component of Puente. Overall, I wholeheartedly believe that this new cabinet will continue to drive Puente towards success and continue to foster a community of high achievers.”

Con el año escolar 2025-2026 llegando a su fin, ¡todos se están vistiendo de gala para los banquetes de fin de año! Hoy destacaremos a Puente, quienes celebraron recientemente su banquete el miércoles 6 de mayo.

Después de todas las excursiones, las actividades de recaudación de fondos y los momentos de diversión, llegó el momento de empezar a planificar. El comité directivo de Puente, compuesto por 27 estudiantes y su asesora, la Sra. Cuellar, se reunió para organizar el evento. Entre la elección del lugar y la temática, la elaboración de la decoración y el envío de las invitaciones, ¡hizo falta todo el equipo para ponerlo todo a punto! El proceso de planificación fue muy exhaustivo. Patrick Medrano, uno de los presidentes de este año, nos contó que, aunque el evento estaba programado para mayo, ¡la planificación comenzó ya en diciembre! A lo largo de varios meses, los estudiantes diseñaron minuciosamente un banquete del que pudieran sentirse orgullosos, inspirándose en la pintura “La noche estrellada” de Vincent Van Gogh.

¡El día del banquete transcurrió a la perfección! Los miembros del comité llegaron temprano para preparar todos los detalles y, en cuanto se abrieron las puertas, los invitados llenaron el salón para presenciar una hermosa muestra de liderazgo. La vicepresidenta de Asuntos Académicos de este año, Samantha Martínez, se mostró feliz al saber que todos se habían divertido, comentando que recibieron muchas “buenas críticas.” Mientras los invitados terminaban de cenar, algunos miembros selectos del comité actuaron como oradores para conducir los actos de la velada. Se reconoció a los invitados y se les agradeció su asistencia, y se celebró al comité actual por su arduo trabajo a lo largo de todo el año.

¡Entonces llegó el momento de los premios! Tanto la Sra. Allen como la Sra. King subieron al escenario y, con la ayuda del Sr. Calderón, rindieron homenaje a los cinco estudiantes con los promedios de calificaciones (GPA) más altos de cada nivel académico. Estos estudiantes fueron reconocidos por su determinación en la búsqueda de un mayor conocimiento y por sus logros sobresalientes a lo largo del año escolar.

Una vez reconocidos los cinco mejores estudiantes del último año, se invitó a todos los “Puentistas” de la promoción de 2026 a subir al escenario para recibir su estola. Fue un momento conmovedor, en el que amigos y familiares vitorearon a los estudiantes que están a punto de graduarse. El último acto de la noche consistió en revelar la composición del nuevo comité directivo para el próximo año escolar. Para mantener la solidez del programa, Puente cuenta con numerosos cargos específicos, garantizando así que representen adecuadamente a sus Puentistas y les brindan la ayuda necesaria. ¡Felicidades a todos los Puentistas que han pasado a formar parte del nuevo gabinete! ¡Estamos seguros de que realizarán una labor extraordinaria durante el próximo año! ¡Una felicitación especial para las nuevas co-presidentas, Samantha Martínez y Melanie Michele Valverde! Ambas han demostrado su total dedicación al programa; ¡estamos convencidos de que lo dirigirán con gran acierto!

Una vez concluidas las celebraciones, las familias se retiraron para tomarse algunas fotos y regresar a casa, mientras que los miembros del gabinete se quedaron atrás para recoger y limpiar el lugar. Una vez finalizadas todas las tareas, todos quedaron libres para volver a sus hogares, descansar y relajarse. Se ha completado otro año exitoso, y Patrick Medrano deja un mensaje para el nuevo gabinete, a modo de recordatorio de la misión de Puente:

“Tengo plena confianza en el nuevo gabinete. Creo que tomamos la decisión acertada al seleccionar y asignar cuidadosamente a cada persona al puesto en el que mejor puede contribuir. Todos los integrantes de este nuevo gabinete están deseosos de tomar la iniciativa y sienten una gran pasión por servir a su comunidad, lo cual constituye un pilar fundamental de Puente. En definitiva, creo de todo corazón que este nuevo gabinete seguirá impulsando a Puente hacia el éxito y continuará fomentando una comunidad de personas de alto rendimiento.”
