The Valentine season has officially come to an end and it’s time to spotlight the amazing yearly choir grams at our school. This event is really fun to see unravel when you’re in class and suddenly the choir comes in and starts singing for someone. The shock on everyone’s face gives a fun wholesome environment and might unravel a secret admirer. Sebastian Viera, a junior who got to sing said “It was an awkward unpleasant feeling for him to be in and he would like to next year purchase one to make someone feel what he felt.” to say these grams are essentially for anyone in school who can purchase them for students, teachers or staff members. You get the option when purchasing a gram if you want it to be anonymous or not and to include a heartfelt message for the one receiving it.
This happens on Valentine’s Day when the choir program goes around the campus and visits the classrooms of the students who purchased a gram. They sing carefully picked songs about love to the person who the gram was for. A sophomore in choir Gabriel Gelvezon said he feels excited when he’s about to go sing the songs due to the fact that he and the rest of the choir worked hard on the songs and want to show them off and what they’ve been doing behind the scenes. The person’s reaction at first is usually confusion with looking around and often blushing or feeling a sense of awkwardness. The other students often laugh and even start recording on their phone to capture the moment and watch it later and laugh with friends.
Beyond the entertainment that singing grams bring to the student body they serve a very important role as you do pay a fee for the gram as the choir is fundraising. This supports choirs transportation, competitions and future ones as well as costumes. By supporting this students are participating in school activities as well as supporting the arts on campus. Valentine’s singing grams are a nice gesture but also a nice distraction from academic pressure. A surprise song brings unity and builds community.
La temporada de San Valentín ha llegado oficialmente a su fin y es momento de destacar los increíbles grams del coro que se realizan cada año en nuestra escuela. Este evento es muy divertido de ver, especialmente cuando estás en clase y de repente el coro entra y comienza a cantar para alguien. La sorpresa en el rostro de todos crea un ambiente divertido y acogedor, y hasta puede revelar a un admirador secreto.Sebastián Viera, un estudiante de tercer año que tuvo la oportunidad de cantar, dijo: “Fue una sensación incómoda y desagradable para él, y el próximo año le gustaría comprar uno para hacer que otra persona sienta lo que él sintió.” Estos grams están disponibles para cualquier persona en la escuela que desee comprarlos para estudiantes, maestros o miembros del personal. Al momento de comprarlos, tienes la opción de que sean anónimos o no, y también puedes incluir un mensaje sincero para la persona que lo recibirá.
Esto ocurre el Día de San Valentín, cuando el programa de coro recorre el campus y visita los salones con los estudiantes que compraron un gran. Gabriel Gelvezon del grado 10 que está en el coro dijo que está emocionado caminar por el campestre y cantar en las clases y demostrar que han estado trabajando en para Cantan canciones cuidadosamente seleccionadas sobre el amor para la persona a quien va dirigido. La reacción inicial suele ser de confusión, mirando alrededor, y muchas veces la persona se siente avergonzada o se siente un poco incómoda. Los demás estudiantes suelen reír e incluso comienzan a grabar con sus teléfonos para capturar el momento y verlo después con sus amigos.
Más allá del entretenimiento que traen los singing grams, también cumplen un papel muy importante, ya que se paga una cuota que sirve como recaudación de fondos. Esto apoya el transporte del coro, las competencias, futuras presentaciones y los vestuarios.
