This season for the girls’ basketball team has been a roller coaster. The team went through a big change when Coach Vince left. Coach Vince was a huge part of the girls basketball program and also helped lead the girls’ flag football team to an undefeated CIF championship. Losing him was hard for the team, but they did not let it stop them. Coach Xavier stepped in this season and has helped guide the team, bringing new energy and helping the girls continue to grow.
Even with these changes, the girls have worked extremely hard all season. They stayed focused, showed determination, and continued to support one another through practices and games. Team captain, Giselle, explained that staying united has been very important. Before games, the team prays together to remind themselves that they are blessed no matter the outcome and that they have each other’s backs. She also shared that being loud, encouraging teammates, and giving constructive feedback helps the team play as one instead of as individuals.
Captain Aleah also shared her thoughts on the season. She said that even though it has been challenging, she is very proud of how the girls have handled adversity. As a captain, her goal is to lead by example and help guide her teammates. This season is especially meaningful for her because it is her comeback year after a serious injury that required surgery. Despite the challenges, she stays motivated because of her love for the game, her faith, and her family.
One of the team’s proudest moments this season has been their ability to stay together and keep pushing forward. The girls have learned how to adjust to change, work through tough situations, and grow stronger as a team. For the rest of the season, their goals are simple: keep improving, keep supporting one another, and finish the season strong. Esta temporada para el equipo de baloncesto femenino ha sido una montaña rusa. El equipo pasó por un gran cambio cuando el entrenador Vince se fue. El entrenador Vince fue una parte muy importante del programa de baloncesto femenino y también ayudó a llevar al equipo de flag football femenino a un campeonato CIF. Perderlo fue difícil para el equipo, pero no dejaron que eso las detuviera.
