For me, as a student, the GEAR UP program in Anaheim High School is an opportunity to get more support and preparation for the future. This program helps us to focus on our goals after High School, especially if we want to go to a university. It helps with guidelines about scholarships and financial aid.
Also, I like that the program motivates us to believe in our capacities, to plan with time and to not be afraid to ask for help. In general, GEAR UP means growth, support, and visiting universities to achieve your academic and personal dreams.
The GEAR UP program at Anaheim High School offers a wide variety of
opportunities and resources to support students’ academic and career success. Among its main services are tutoring programs, designed to provide personalized help to those who need extra support in their studies. In addition, GEAR UP provides guidance and support throughout the college application process and in the search for financial aid, thus facilitating access to higher education.
To make the most of the program’s resources, active participation in the frequently held workshops is recommended. These workshops offer valuable information about colleges, majors, and academic topics, and include food and snacks for the students. Attendance at least once a week or once a month is recommended, as each session presents different topics relevant to students’ educational future.
GEAR UP also organizes annual visits to various universities so that students can learn firsthand about the available options and make informed decisions about their academic future. Currently, a three-day trip to Northern California is being planned to explore several educational institutions and learn more about their programs.
The GEAR UP team at Anaheim High School consists of five dedicated members: Ms. Villalobos, Mr. Peña, Mr. Santos, Mr. Washington, and Ms. Alva. Thanks to their commitment, students receive the support they need to achieve their goals and successfully prepare for college and their future careers. They can be found in room 28.
Para mí, como estudiante, el programa GEAR UP en Anaheim High School es una gran oportunidad para obtener más apoyo y preparación para el futuro. Este programa nos ayuda a enfocarnos en nuestras metas después de la preparatoria, especialmente si queremos ir a la universidad. GEAR UP ofrece talleres, tutorías, visitas a universidades y orientación sobre becas o ayuda financiera.
También me gusta que el programa nos motiva a crecer en nuestras capacidades, a planear con tiempo y a no tener miedo de preguntar o pedir ayuda. En general, GEAR UP significa crecimiento, apoyo y preparación para lograr nuestros sueños académicos y personales.
El programa GEAR UP en Anaheim High School ofrece una amplia variedad de oportunidades y recursos para apoyar el éxito académico y profesional de los estudiantes. Asimismo, GEAR UP organiza visitas anuales a diferentes universidades, con el propósito de que los alumnos conozcan de cerca las opciones disponibles y puedan tomar decisiones informadas sobre su futuro académico. Actualmente, se está planificando un viaje de tres días al norte de California para explorar diversas instituciones educativas y aprender más sobre sus programas.
El equipo de GEAR UP en Anaheim High School está conformado por cinco miembros dedicados: la Sra. Villalobos, el Sr. Peña, el Sr. Santos, el Sr. Washington y la Sra. Alva.
