Travis Scott Releases Astroworld
September 26, 2018
On August 3rd, rapper, singer, and songwriter Travis Scott released his latest album titled Astroworld to the public.
Scott first signed with Epic Records, which was his first major company in 2012. Then in 2013, he signed with Grand Hustle, where he released his first album, Rodeo. After the release of other albums such as Birds of the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), and other collaborations, he announced his album entitled Astroworld in 2016. It took Travis two years of recording before the actual release.
The album consists of seventeen songs, most being trap beats, but there is a wide variety of genres from old-school hip-hop to guitar-based beats. Wake Up, one of the tracks features smooth vocals and a head-bobbing guitar intro. This track features the popular singer The Weeknd, while Who? What?, featuring Quavo and Takeoff, is more of a track that features the low trap rap beat, but still gives that head bobbing feeling to it.
Throughout the 26-year old’s album, he takes pride in his roots. He often mentions his hometown of Houston, Texas throughout his lyrics, and the city was the inspiration for the title. Astroworld was originally an amusement park in Houston but was closed down in 2005. The artwork for the album cover depicts an amusement park with an image of children eating park foods, and smiling in front of a background of Houston.
When his album was first released, it was raved about and even placed number one on the Billboards 200. Furthermore, all seventeen of his songs were able to place in the Billboard’s Hot 100, making this album his most successful up to date. In the near future, we can only hope to have more catchy songs of his released.
