¿Qué son las noticias? Bueno, para empezar, las noticias son una historia de un hecho de actualidad y de interés público, hecho por periodistas de manera objetiva, para informar a las personas y mantenerlas al tanto de lo que sucede en su entorno y en el mundo, cumpliendo así un rol social fundamental.
¿Qué propósito tienen las noticias?
Las noticias existen principalmente para informar al público, exigir responsabilidades a los poderosos y contextualizar los acontecimientos mundiales. Un papel de la vida en las sociedades democráticas, proporcionando a los ciudadanos la información necesaria para tomar decisiones informadas. Las noticias informan a la gente sobre lo que sucede a nivel local, nacional e internacional. Esto les permite estar al tanto del mundo que les rodea. Al proporcionar información sobre hechos como tendencias políticas, económicas y hasta decisiones de las juntas escolares locales, las noticias permiten a las personas tomar mejores decisiones en su vida diaria. Las noticias crean una comprensión compartida de lo que sucede en una comunidad, conectando a las personas a través de temas comunes de discusión. Por ejemplo, las noticias dan información muy informativa sobre el peligro, la violencia, lo que ocurre en las escuelas, las drogas y temas muy importantes. Claro, habrá temas negativos, pero también habrá temas positivos.
¿Quién debería estar viendo las noticias?
Todos deberíamos informarnos sobre las noticias. A lo mejor dirías “¿por qué es muy importante? Bueno, para empezar, es muy importante que personas adultas sí deberían estar muy informadas sobre lo que está ocurriendo a nivel mundial y en nuestras comunidades, ya que tendrán hijos, padres, abuelos y amigos que quieran estar al pendiente por el peligro. Igual que los adolescentes deberían estar muy informados sobre las noticias. Las noticias son muy buenas para que los adolescentes estén muy informados sobre lo que está ocurriendo en el lugar que viven. Claro, no tiene que ser noticias negativas, pueden ser noticias positivas como intereses que tendrán.
¿Dónde puedes encontrar las noticias?
Hoy en día es muy fácil encontrar noticias, especialmente porque la tecnología sigue avanzando. Por ejemplo, las noticias pasan en la televisión, en línea, y en el teléfono. No es necesario; en las redes sociales también pueden leer una revista o en libros. Bueno, hoy en día las personas prefieren ver las noticias en línea que leer.

Entrevisté a Karla. Ella es madre y tiene 4 hijos. Ella se preocupa por ellos; entonces a Karla le gusta estar al pendiente de las noticias. Karla me comentó que para ella es muy importante estar al pendiente de lo que está ocurriendo; así ella está informada y puede prevenir algo malo. A ella también le gusta que su hijo mayor esté informado de las noticias porque así él sabrá lo que está ocurriendo.

We should all be informed about the news. Perhaps you would ask why it is very important? I interviewed Karla. She’s a mother with four children. She cares about them, so Karla likes to stay up-to-date with the news. Karla told us that it’s very important for her to stay up-to-date with what’s happening so she’s informed and can prevent something bad. She also likes her oldest son to stay up-to-date with the news because that way he’ll know what’s happening.
