Touchdowns, tiaras, and team spirit took center stage as the students of Anaheim High School packed the stands for this year’s homecoming game. On Friday, September 12th, 2025 our Anaheim varsity football team took on Oceanview on one of our biggest nights of the school year. The Homecoming game took place the Friday night before the Homecoming dance, which was on September 13th this school year. This game didn’t just bring football, but alumni, amazing performances, and of course, our Homecoming king and queen.

Before the game started, the students had found their seats, some even getting their face painted to showcase their school spirit. Members of the Anaheim High School’s Aquatics Booster, stood near the entrance selling “Mums” to fundraise for the program. By the time the game started the atmosphere was charged with excitement!
However, this game had one main difference that made it more exciting and unique than the rest, the halftime show! The band gave a stellar performance, like they do at every game. Their daily practice before and after school really does pay off. Of course, the colorguard is always right there with them, hitting every beat. Lets not forget, Dance Production gave an awesome 70’s inspired performance based on our Homecoming theme this year: Disco Fever.
One of our performers Dayani Parra shares that their teacher previously gave them the choreographies, but this time her and the other two captains were in charge of the performance. She claimed it felt “very different” but “the process went really smoothly” and she believed the routine came out “really good” which was evident with the loud cheers from the crowd. I think we can all agree that they did fantastic out there under the stadium spotlights!
Directly after came our most anticipated moment of the night, the showing of the royal court and the crowning of Homecoming king and queen. They first showed our homecoming royalty, which included Isabella Loera and Emmanuel Santizo for the freshmen class of 2029. Andreya Carreola and Ashley Torres for the sophomore class of 2028. As well as Ariana Rubalcava and Ali Elkatat for the junior class of 2027. Each royalty pair and senior finalists came out in style, wearing gorgeous dresses and sharp suits while riding in stylish cars!

After a long running, Patrick Medrano and Kate Ibasco were crowned as the official king and queen for Homecoming 2025! When asked about his reaction, Patrick claimed that he was shocked and “it felt like a moment of silence that lasted forever, but it was super exciting.” He said he felt “very honored and blessed to have this opportunity.” On the other hand, Kate’s response to winning homecoming queen was genuine surprise and immediate happiness, she stated that it was an “honor” and that she was “so excited to represent the school.”
After the thrilling Homecoming festivities, we finished up the second half of the football game. Unfortunately, it resulted in a 13-35 score, but that didn’t stop our students from having an amazing night!
Los “touchdowns”, las tiaras y el espíritu del equipo fueron eventos principales cuando los estudiantes de la Preparatoria Anaheim llevaron la energía para el partido de “Homecoming” de este año. El viernes, 12 de septiembre de 2025, nuestro equipo de “varsity” fútbol americano de Anaheim se enfrentó a Oceanview en una de nuestras noches más grandes del año escolar. El partido de “Homecoming” tuvo lugar el viernes antes del baile de “Homecoming,” que este año escolar se celebró el 13 de septiembre. Este partido no solo trajo fútbol americano, sino también a exalumnos, actuaciones increíbles y, por supuesto, a nuestro rey y reina del baile.
Antes de que comenzara el partido, los estudiantes ya habían encontrado sus asientos, y algunos incluso se habían pintado la cara para mostrar su espíritu escolar. Madres del “booster” de los deportes acuáticos de la preparatoria Anaheim estaban cerca de la entrada vendiendo “Mums” para conseguir fondos para el programa. ¡Cuando empezó el partido, el ambiente estaba lleno de emoción!

Sin embargo, este juego tenía una diferencia principal que lo hacía más emocionante y único que el resto: ¡el espectáculo del medio tiempo! La banda ofreció una actuación espectacular, como en cada partido. Su práctica diaria antes y después de clases valió la pena. Por supuesto, el colorguard siempre está ahí con ellos, marcando cada ritmo. No olvidemos que Producción de Danza ofreció una presentación increíble, inspirada en los años 70 basada en nuestro tema de “Homecoming” de este año: Disco Fever.
Una de nuestras bailadoras, Dayani Parra, comparte que, aunque previamente su maestro les había dado las coreografías, ella y las otras dos capitanas estuvieron a cargo de esta presentación. Afirmó que se sintió “muy diferente,” pero “el proceso transcurrió de maravilla” y que la rutina salió “muy buena,” lo cual se hizo evidente con los fuertes gritos del público. ¡Creo que todos podemos estar de acuerdo en que lo hicieron fantástico bajo los focos del estadio!
Justo después llegó el momento más esperado de la noche, la presentación de la corte real y la coronación del rey y la reina del “Homecoming.” Primero, se presentaron los miembros de la realeza, entre ellos Isabella Loera y Emmanuel Santizo, de la clase de 2029. Andreya Carreola y Ashley Torres, de la clase de 2028.
