For the first time ever in Anaheim High School’s history there was a water polo game between two sports on campus: football and water polo. Who emerged victorious?
Many students were delighted at the idea of the game, but not so much on the promotion. One student, Samantha Martinez (11th grade), who found out about the game the day of, said “ I unfortunately won’t be able to watch the game today because I have a lot of homework. It was kind of last minute.” She found the idea interesting and wishes she was able to attend.
The bleachers were absolutely packed and cheerleaders were ready to cheer on their Varsity football players. One of the football players had floaties on, but the whole team was ready to give it their all. The game began and immediately 9 seconds into the game water polo’s player # 7 made a goal. It got the game started and let the football players know whose court it was. Point after point, the water polo players were destroying the football players and rejecting them from any point being made. Eventually the football players scored their first goal and put themselves on the board. Afterwards, there was a great momentum shift on the football team. Some could argue they’re in the wrong sport!
Football put up a valiant battle against the water polo team, but unfortunately lost 16-8. As a tradition, the winning team gets to dunk the losing team’s coach into the pool. Coach Martinez’ water polo debut ended with him soaked and 7 feet under water.

Como es tradición, el equipo ganador sumerge al entrenador del equipo perdedor en la piscina. El debut del entrenador Martínez en waterpolo terminó con él empapado y sumergido a 2 metros de agua.
