On January 8 of 2024 Anaheim High School unveiled its new track. This event was sure one to remember! After 10 months of patiently waiting students were able to cruise on their new track. The plan for the track was part of the $11.2 million Measure H bond initiative. The plan included a new synthetic track, artificial turf field, new bleachers with solar panel canopies, updated field lighting and a replacement scoreboard.
A very special alumni attended the ribbon cutting. AUHSD Trustee and Anaheim High School Alumni, Jessica Guerrero was given the honor to officially cut the ribbon for Anaheim High School’s new track and field. Many others joined in such as coaches, students and of course our principal Mr. Calleros. Calleros said, “The district’s investment showed that this school is not on decline and it is moving forward with new facilities.”
There was a big sense of community during this event as many students were able to communicate with each other and alumni. One of the Alumni is particular, shared a speech right before cutting the ribbon. Jessica Guerrero stated that, “there’s a lot of memories on the field, it’s a home to many students, coaches, and alumni that are here today that have trained on it with generations of players and some championships on it, but I look forward to future games, championships,…that students and future alumni will have in this new state of the art athletic facility.”
Much of the student body joined in on the fun. Dance, Cheer and Band all performed during the event as well as color guard. We as Anaheim should be truly grateful of the community and history that has been built here on our campus.
El 8 de enero del 2024 la preparatoria de Anaheim desveló su nueva pista. ¡Este evento fue uno para recordar! Después de 10 meses de espera, los estudiantes finalmente pudieron usar su nueva pista. El plan de la pista fue parte de la iniciativa de bonos Medida H de $11.2 millones. El plan incluía una nueva pista, sintética, y un campo de pasto artificial, nuevas gradas con paneles solares, iluminación de campo actualizada y un marcador de reemplazo.
Una exalumna muy especial asistió a la inauguración. Jessica Guerrero, miembro del consejo directivo de AUHSD y exalumna de la preparatoria Anaheim, tuvo el honor de inaugurar oficialmente el nuevo estadio de atletismo de la escuela. Muchos otros se unieron, como entrenadores, estudiantes, y por supuesto el director Sr. Calleros. Calleros comentó: “La inversión del distrito demostró que esta escuela no está en decadencia y que está avanzando con nuevas instalaciones.”
Se vivió un gran sentido de comunidad durante este evento, ya que muchos estudiantes pudieron comunicarse entre sí y entre los exalumnos. Una de las exalumnas, en particular, dio un discurso justo antes de cortar la cinta. Jessica Guerrero declaró, “Hay muchos recuerdos en el campo; es el hogar de muchos estudiantes, entrenadores y exalumnos que están aquí hoy. Han entrenado allí con generaciones de jugadores y han ganado algunos campeonatos, pero espero con ansias los futuros partidos, campeonatos… que los estudiantes y futuros exalumnos disfrutarán en estas nuevas instalaciones deportivas.”
Una gran parte del alumnado se unió a la diversión. Baile, porristas, y la banda todos presentaron durante este evento. En Anaheim, debemos de estar agradecidos por la comunidad e historia que ha fortalecido nuestra escuela.
